Not far from WIN, one of the largest fruit bats colony of South-East Asia been found. Geographic distribution is tropical and subtropical and limited to eastern Mediterranean and southern Asia. Two species coexisting: the Golden crowned flying fox (Acerodon jubatus) and the Malaysian flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus).
Some twenty juveniles been rescued during this last breeding season. Every beginning of spring, daily patrols been organized searching for orphan bats fallen from the nest.
A reintroduction program is place by the center. Babies who have become adults and self-employed as well as bats who have arrived injured or sick are released in their colony.
