The Philippines long-tailed macaque rescue and rehabilitation

The long-tailed macaque is Southeast of Asia native species. The macaques rescued at Win are sick, wounded or orphaned. Most of cases are confiscated from the illegal Pet trade. Before joining the others residents; the rescued animal have to been in a quarantine place from 3 to 6 months depending of the risk. Consistent social groups created will be released next springtime.  The release's sites been study thoroughly and proper release areas been identified. In april 2004, the first reintroduction program been planed with 4 macaques released and 5 others in June.Last March 25 of year 2016, the alpha male, « Bouboye » and his group of 18 macaques been the 7th reintroduction realised by Win. For each reintroduction, monitoring and feeding protocols is planed for the first months. And gradually the frequencies of controls decreased until the group is autonomous.
