My name is Dorothée Schiltz. I am a Belgian vet graduated from Liege university last June 2012.
I always been fascinated by all kind of animals specially wild one. After 4 years of veterinary practice for domestic and feral animals gained in Luxembourg, France and Guadeloupe, I decided to devote my time and extend my professional and personnel knowledge for wildlife. Since I was young, I already volunteering in a rescue center in my country called " Birds Bay". In the Caribbean island I participated in the Antillean manatee reintroduction project. After that I decide to travel to Asia to volunteer in a rescue centre for Macaques in the Philippines as well as in a Marine mammals centre in Taïwan and in an Open Zoo in Thailand for 7 months. I also did an vet internship in the zoo of Lyon for 6 months. Finally, I realized a dream and work with South African wildlife. I passed the vet board examination to allowed me to practice as a vet is South Africa. I am now working in a clinic for dogs and cats in Cap Town and do a lot of welfare work. During winter period, I participate in a conservation project located in the Limpopo.
I hope that my projects, which is so dear to my heart, will interest you.
